AE Zambia builds momentum towards Kabwe City Mission through clean-up.
The preparation of a City-wide mission usually takes a long time, from months to even years. African Enterprise Zambia has already started efforts to build momentum towards the Kabwe City Jesus Campaign City Wide Mission scheduled for 4th to 13th July 2025. In a unique preparation phase approach, the AE Zambia team embarked on Community Cleanup and Evangelistic activity in Chaisa, one of the slums in the city of Lusaka. The city clean ups are usually done in the proclamation phase however, AE Zambia team did it in a unique manner by employing it during the preparation phase. This was a great opportunity for AE Zambia to participate in the keep Zambia clean and health campaign aimed at avoiding and mitigating the onset of epidemics that are associated with unclean water and poor hygiene.
The city of Lusaka usually suffers outbreaks of cholera around the periods September – December as festivities increase the rate of negligent garbage management especially around the slum areas. Due to it’s densely settled population, a cholera outbreak is a life threatening risk. It was therefore, both the right thing, and the right time to serve the community through the cleanup, but also share Christ to the people of Chaisa because the dense population also meant that many could get to hear the gospel message of Christ. While the cleanup activity rid the town and slum areas of dirt, waste and physical filth, it was also a time of spiritual cleansing through soul winning and prayer walks.
MOBILIZATION FOR COMMUNITY CLEANUP
Because the team did not have any funds set aside for this activity, the goal became to achieve the best results with the least financial requirements.
“We engaged with the Constituency Pastors Fellowship that oversees this area in order for us to partner with the local Churches for this outreach. These Bishops, Pastors and Reverends were instrumental in bringing members of their local churches for the success of this mission,” noted Pst. Joel Kasoka, the Team Leader for AE Zambia.
The team also engaged Jesus Cares Ministries, an organization that has long prepared and participated in community service activities. Jesus Cares Ministries brought on board 50 volunteers for the city clean up and some tools for the purpose of soul winning.
“We also advertised the event on social media sites to encourage caring believers to participate in this activity, according to Acts 10:38 which indicates that the evidence of the anointing and power of the Holy Ghost on the Lord Jesus Christ was that He did good works. We invited the area political and city local government representatives as this is a key area of concern not just for individuals but for the entire nation.”
ACHIEVEMENTS MADE
As a result of the cleanup initiative, over 150 volunteers joined cause and outreach. They consisted of members of AE Zambia’s Community Transformation Groups (CTGs), Jesus Cares Ministries, local Church congregants and leaders from the Mandevu Constituency Pastors Fellowship The team managed to donate some cleaning materials to the Chaisa Clinic, reach out to schools within the community where 97 pupils gave their lives to the Lord. A separate total reach of 552 people heard the gospel of whom 217 gave their lives to the Lord! God be praise.
